Aeration Systems

Solar and 120V AC Powered Aeration Systems

During winter, ice cover on dugouts prevents water from dissolving atmospheric oxygen. As a result, aerobic decomposition, a process in which dead organic materials such as algae, animal and other plant life decay with oxygen, depletes the existing dissolved oxygen in the water.

Once dissolved oxygen is used, anaerobic decomposition ( decay without oxygen ) takes place. Carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide gases are produced. The hydrogen sulfide, which is odorous, reacts with the organic matter causing the water to become black or odored, tainting the water quality. This is commonly called Black Dugout Water.

The deterioration of the water quality in this matter occurs in a number of dugouts and ponds. Even those properly maintained and having high oxygen content in the fall are likely to have little or no oxygen left by the end of the winter. This makes hydrogen sulfide production probable. As well, low oxygen levels in dugout bottoms frequently occur because the wind does not effectively mix the water. This too contributes to water quality deterioration.

Maintaining aerobic decomposition in water throughout the year, but especially during the winter can be achieved through the periodic diffusion of atmospheric air into the water supply. This process, known as aeration assures a sufficient level of dissolved oxygen entering the water supply to control odors and control good water quality. Aeration should also be applied at regular intervals throughout the summer to maintain good water quality and reduce algae growth.

Kelln Aeration Systems are simple and easy to install or move if required. Each system offers a Guarantee of Reliability and Low Maintenance and come with a Full One Year Warranty on AC powered systems and Two Year Warranty on Solar powered systems.

Kelln Solar Aeration Diffusers

Ecoflex flexible membrane diffusers were developed for use in applications , which require fine bubble dispersion in aeration systems, which may cycle on and off. This design feature prevents the backflow of water when the diffuser is not aerating. Ecoflex diffusers are an excellent choice when you demand minimal maintenance and uniform fine bubbles. Its anti-fouling, self-cleaning characteristics extend maintenance intervals, provide high oxygen transfer efficiency, and reduce energy consumption up to 50%.

12" Diffuser

Advantages

Membrane - The membrane is a special product which includes an UV inhibitor and resistant to aggressive chemical attack, weathering and aging. With the special materials, used in the diffusers they meet the requirements for municipal wastewater plants, textile, tannery and etc.

Uniform fine Bubble - The formation of the finest bubbles leads to extremely high oxygen transfer efficiency, the distance between the membrane slots have been set to prevent the individual bubbles from coalescing into larger bubbles. High Oxygen Transfer Efficiency- When airflow is applied, the membrane's slots consistently produce 1~3mm fine bubbles that increase the bubble surface contact area with the water being aerated. This greatly increases the oxygen transfer efficiency resulting in lower air flow requirements and up to 50% energy reduction. This can substantially reduce the number of diffusers required, thereby providing a more economical installation.

Back Flow Prevention - When the air supply is shut off the membrane retracts sealing the slots and presses down on the support device sealing the air supply hole. Due to this double sealing mechanism no water can enter the diffusers or air supply line.

Resistant to Fouling - When the air expands through the flexible membrane any settled solids, slime or scale buildup are dispersed. This significantly reduces the possibility of clogging, plugging and fouling that is critical in maintaining high oxygen transfer efficiency.
